Japanese Rockers, Mono Release Their 5th Album
The Japanese post-rockers of Mono have come a long way since the debut of their first full length album, Under the Pipal
Tree. With a distinct layering of guitar melodies and a purely instrumental approach including strings and piano, Mono came onto the scene brimming at the seams with colorful soundscapes. Now 10 years later and four albums later, the guys are celebrating their fifth album Hymn To The Immortal Wind with a special concert backed by a 22 piece orchestra. The latest album is the product of a collective hibernation over the past year, spawning a more thoughtfully eclectic mix of tracks. Written and arranged with a hopeful, romantic narrative in mind, the songs string together like chapters into an epic love story. The instrumentation includes strings, flutes, organ, piano, glockenspiel and tympani all combining into a cinematic wall of noise. The epic orchestral event will take place at the Lincoln Center May 8th.
